Binders are always called on to construct enclosures, from phase boxes all the way to clamshell boxes with leather spines or even full leather.  Students in this class will learn how to make a five flap portfolio; a slipcase with chemise; a full cloth clamshell box; and, time permitting, a clamshell box with a flat leather spine. Emphasis will be on tailoring each enclosure to the item to be housed.

Students should bring two or three books (no folios please); hand tools including leather paring knife; apron and notebook. If anyone has a Scharf-fix please bring it. If you have questions please contact us.

Materials fee: $40

Dates: Monday March 22 - Friday March 26. If you are staying at the school please come late Sunday afternoon to get settled in.

Class status: 3 spaces available as of 3/4/10.
